Curator’s Comments:

Mountains was featured on the site today, despite it debuting more than three years ago.  I enjoy the balance of warm, and cool hues, and the interesting linear manipulation of the watercolor media. The square format contributes to the unique presentation of abstracted landscape, and sets up a dynamic between the vertical projections of the mountains and dissolving ground. Without a clear horizon line to set them in the space, the painting takes on a decidedly non-objective and painterly space. Looking back through your portfio, I recognize several works I’ve admired before.  Many enjoy a much denser manipulation of textural design elements combined with representational imagery. What Mountains may lack in terms of a multifaceted narrative through juxtaposition of various subjects, it makes up for in its fresh approach to its subject.
