While it’s always preferable to view artwork in person, I was delighted to see the range and depth of your figurative work posted on the site. I often read the exploratory, searching lines throughout many of your drawings and paintings as exhibiting a state of emotional flux, or figural transformation. The languid, reclining poses that melt into the often pastoral landscape provide visual harmony through warm analogous color and biomorphic form, while subtle tension exists in the areas where disparate entities meet. Schism in many ways is a wholly different type of piece, though sharing the gorgeous ochre and blue palette of adjoining works. More androgynous in biological distinction, the human-tree hybrid forms swell and stretch while seeming to repel each other as they grow, and move up the picture plane. Joined at the ‘crotch’ of the tree, I see overt native sensuality, if not unencumbered sexuality. The entangled roots suggest circulatory function, if not a clear bilateral symmetry. The small bit of green between the two figures offers a hopeful intermediary, bridging their warm to cool temperate shifts. I also quite enjoy the piece titled Reclamation. The enclave sculpted from the raised leg of the figure hints as a space within or between humans and nature; an unknowable opening or imaginary space of sheltered bliss.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
