Curator’s Comments:
This numerically designed piece caught my attention today (456), and I realize I may have overlooked its subtlety when I was admiring your other paintings a few years ago. I’m glad it came back in a random selection. The encaustic medium may account for some of the textural and tonal shifting I’m perceiving in the open color fields. The dissolution of shape into value/ground is not something I had detected in your paintings with the flatter treatments of acrylic or casein. I also appreciate the cool tonalities. There’s a reflective, almost metallic quality to the coloration. Again because of the media, I’m reading this on my monitor as additive light pigment rather than reflected light. Viewing all of your work again is a pleasurable, fresh experience. I do hope you your practice is thriving, and that you continue to post new work to the site.
