These really are beautiful pieces- no doubt pleasurable to hold as well as to see.
Thank you for the lovely review of my work. The columns were actually my first attempt at kiln casting and I had to spent many, many hours polishing each side. The sizes are 3"x3"x3", 2.5" x 2.5" x 6", and the largest is 4"x4"x8".
Curator’s Comment:
Columns are infused with a lush simplicity, highlighting the liquid translucency of your craft. While all of your works on the site demonstrate obvious dexterity and elevation of the medium, this piece resonates most with me because of the purity of form and use of color. The layered blue bands are particularly rich, offering the viewer a clear association with water and sky. I would be interested to know scale, as they have the potential to be monumental/environmental or more personal if they can be hand-held. The tactile quality- unyielding hard edges versus smooth contours could be read as personal, architectural, or even industrial. While I find the bowl forms to be quite inviting, the columns are ubiquitous in their lack of specificity or origin. As building blocks they appear elemental, and at once essential.
