Mysterious, interesting, wish I could see the actual piece
Curator’s Comment:
This piece is particularly evocative when viewed alongside your more representational and photographic landscapes. The blending of analog with digital media provides an interesting effect- the image has a shimmering luminosity that suggests the afterimage of a large tree or other organic form in the denser, or weightier top section. (This could also be a visual reverberation of the adjacent images in the portfolio.) Of course it’s foremost and formally a non-objective field, with delicate transitions of color and texture, not reliant on recognizable subject matter. The higher chroma pinkish orange color along the framed edge helps hold the floating, ethereal pinks and violet tints. The Pine Cone’s Story is another attractive piece, wavering between painterly application of pigment and abraded and weathered photo-based manipulation. I like the ghostly text behind the many strata of organic color and texture. The calligraphic marks, rather than providing an ornamental motif, suggest a more supportive framework from which the rest of the image is built. The words don’t overpower the space, and nicely recede back to their original layer- whispering rather than announcing their presence.
