The ambiguous and likely abbreviated title of this painting – DskySnd-is as mysterious as its figure-ground relationships.  The lush colors and striped orange and pink drip lines draw me into the organic figuration, but then it’s difficult to find further grounding.  The floating forms suggest the transformation of a landscape, but ultimately dissolve into pure painterly abstraction. The shape of the support, and asymmetry of the bottom disruption creates a unique visual tension, without really impacting the fluidity of the overall composition.  I also find it interesting that the darker passages on the right suggest an entrance into the thicket of gestural green and gold swirling lines.
