Curator’s Comments:
This shaped painting appeared in a random selection on the site today. I’m intrigued, and want to know more about the piece, but scale and media aren’t noted and the title seems a plain enumeration – Pnt8Day. The irregular shape seems somewhat random, without revealing any connection between internal marks and exterior contours. The occasionally protruding geometric shapes maintain a rectilinear format, but collectively they read as a more organic entity. Warm pink and gold tonalities further assert a fleshy quality without the benefit of obvious figuration. The gold ribbon shape snaking through multiple segments suggests associations with natural formations, liquid flow, or an animalistic tail. I keep going back to the pink piece along the bottom left edge. It looks torn, but then the frayed edge is emphasized and affirmed with darker paint. It’s as if random elements and chaos ensues, and it is up to the artist to underscore meaning and order.
