Pondview Martha’s Vineyard is an idyllic scene, washing over the senses with a universal calm.  The large proportion of sky versus land is uplifting and light.  I like the contrast of the dark green dense brushstrokes in the tree line, which visually connect with the rolling movement in the softly modeled blue water underneath.   The faint pinkish hue throughout the painting also contributes underlying warmth to the space, suggesting a temperate time of year and day.  I’m somewhat surprised to see that this piece is an outlier in your portfolio of more detailed and decorative figure drawing. Perhaps this piece represents a body of other landscapes, or remains a fruitful diversion from your signature style.
