Curator's Comments:
Brilliance came up randomly on the site today, and I was drawn in by the lime green saturated color and the myriad of luminous circular reflections. While I can see the piece’s origins in photography, the macro lens (or subsequent digital manipulation?) distorts the subject beyond easy recognition. The motion lines in the upper left corner nicely counter the more static reflected gold pieces below, and travel the color palette throughout the composition. Looking back through your other works on the site, I remember admiring your graphic, high chroma images some time ago. Brilliance appears to take its visual cues from the series of more organic bubble pieces you have on the site, contrasting the abstracted, simpler forms in works such as Framework and Brilliant Tones. This piece and body of work demonstrate a dexterous handling of fluid forms and light. Posted back in 2014, I’d be interested in seeing where your practice, and creative process, has taken you.
