This piece entitled Rain on my car window came up randomly on the site today, and I was once again mesmerized by your lucid handling of soft pastels.  The image conjures a dappling of light and water on a reflective surface, but for me the representational aspect soon falls away with my viewing, and I revel in the pure painterly abstraction.  The context of the subject matter is arguably provided by the title, but there’s also little doubt the artwork captures the scene with clarity and finesse. Compositionally, I appreciate the centralized clustering of blurred color blocks and more defined water droplets. As the water drops move to the edges of the square picture frame, they seem to fade, and lose structural integrity.  It is a fascinating work, for it captures what is arguably the ordinary, and elevates it into a virtual cosmic expanse.
