Red Dawn - dyed tissue paper & mixed media collage

This is my newest collection of Abstract Expressionistic Painting series that I created using cut out dyed tissue paper with acrylic & watercolor paints on paper. The dyed tissue papers are recycled remnants from my silk batik "steaming" processes. The color dyes on the paper was a "natural" staining result of this steaming process giving it a tie dyed or shibori-ish look/feel to it.
I am selling this fine original artwork as is with out matting nor frame! This gives you the collector the freedom and flexibility to be creative in selecting the proper matting + framing that suits to your own liking! The use of UV coated plexyglass and the likes is highly recommended in its final presentation!

This mixed media/watercolor painting Red Dawn came up randomly on the site today, and I’m enamored with the freshness of the color, simple shapes, and use of white space. The tissue paper sections from what you describe as remnants from your silk batik “steaming” process add interesting edges and visual boundaries to otherwise amorphous clouds of color. The dominant pink hue in the color palette creates a sense of harmony in the design, while the shapes that bleed into orange or violet add organic complexity. Blue Wave I and Enchanted Pond 2 appear to utilize similar treatments of media- and are described in the same manner in the accompanying text- but are decidedly more representational in their subject matter. While there is an organizational satisfaction in placing the various shapes within familiar landscape, I am more attracted to the pure painterly abstraction of Red Dawn. It’s really an exquisite piece. As these were all posted several years ago, I do hope you consider posting new works to the site. I’m curious if your practiced has maintained a representational trajectory, or if the abstract pieces show a new course.
