Thank you Kristen!  Since you were surprised to see the fashion images in my portfolio, I thought you should know I have turned to painting more of these paintings and my style has changed over the past year.  Please take a look when you have a chance.

Redress recently came up in a random image search, and I was attracted to the stylishness of the portrait.  I was surprised to see it belonged in your portfolio of horse race works, as the portraiture lends itself to a more static subject.  Yet the image has an intriguing flair, which may be attributed to the hairstyle and sunglasses of the fashion editor. It conveys a chic detachment from the viewer, though the head fills the picture frame. I also like how the muted pattern in the background space reiterates the shadows created by the eyeglasses, using visual movement within the slight figural abstraction.  Last One has a slightly different type of engagement, as we see the subject’s eyes but don’t meet her gaze.  The sub-caption references a behind the scenes perspective is evident by the reflected camera lens, and unusual vantage point.  The cord cutting across the composition is a technically accurate inclusion, but further interrupts the space and distances us from the subject.  I’m curious about these paintings actual scale. Neither rely so much on color for mood, but both portraits are enticing as they invite the viewer into a tightly cropped space, but create psychological barriers as we move in close.
