This piece in your Roots series came up for me randomly on the site today, and I confess I had more appreciation for it when taken out of the context of your other fluid ink paintings. In the past I admired the tension between order and chaos in your marks, which balance what look to be controlled strokes with meandering washing of blurred pigment. The titles and connection to natural landscape and objects ground them visually for the viewer, but to some degree remove the mystery of the abstraction.  This particular piece has beautifully delicate tendrils growing out of the heavier root cluster. The pale gray lines in the bottom suggest tiny capillaries salvaged when the root form was detached from the earth.  Of course, there are bodily connections to the organic vein structure; as if a central heart reaches out from its center.  The reddish tonalities enhance this vaguely visceral association. These are wonderful works, and I hope your practice has continued in the years since you’ve posted new work to the site.  Please consider sharing new pieces with us if you’re able.
