Roots of Creative Passion is arguably the most abstract piece in your collection of silk paintings on the site, but the rich analogous red and pink hues create a dramatic webbing of space and color saturation. Without the strong outlines segmenting the organic floral elements this image becomes more amorphous and mysterious, albeit less representational. The bottom section looks to be a tangle of roots created from accidental and controlled dripping of the dye.  The erratic linear pattern that evolved does speak to the creative process/passion, as the whole reads as a giant heart with branching capillaries. Birds, the first image in the series, is much less visceral, but nicely employs a graphic sensibility and translation of organic form.  The crisscrossed stalks of the birds of paradise strike a dynamic interplay of shape and color, branching up into intense blue-violet and orange. These silk paintings are somewhat at odds with each other in terms of formal handling of space, but both demonstrate a confident and accomplished handling of the medium, evoking a pleasing response.
