Curator’s Comments:  

Scavenger engulfs the viewer with dark and expressive brushwork, while the natural color pigments such as red and yellow ochre provide a harmonious palette. The bits of white pigment in the piece, scumbled over by various black and red swaths of paint, imbue the surface of the work with a sense of erosion, and time.  For me the thin black linear marks recall Paleolithic cave paintings and rock art formations. This painting shares the all-over mark-making structure of your other compositions on the site, without significant hierarchy in the organic forms. I realize this work was posted quite a while back, and I do hope you check back in and post new pieces to share how your practice is evolving.
