Curator’s Comments:
I find economy and unity of texture in Weightless to be very appealing. On a larger human scale, the piece can take on the appearance of a field of soft projections at the same time it’s viewed a singular sculptural object. The overall grey color is equally ambiguous, vacillating between natural, untreated coloration of fur or aquatic entity versus synthetic manufacture of plastic or foam. These inherent contractions within the simple manipulation of materials are refreshing. Right Around the Bend seems to be a piece similarly imagined and constructed, but for me the larger proportioned “curls” of paper evoke more straightforward associations with recycling/repurposing and utilitarian function. But both works successfully offer a straightforward exchange between ordered design and chaotic organic arrangement.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
