Sea Angel is an arresting image with its practically luminescent yellow-gold subject and inky black waters.  The seahorse is an image that we often experience in stylized decorative motifs, but here the complexity and fragility of the live animal is celebrated.  The composition remains straightforwardly elegant with the centered visual weight, and extreme value contrast. The few deep green blades of sea grass set up an interesting diagonal in the space.  The greenery also places the seahorse in a natural environment; without the inclusions it would be relegated to a more clinical, albeit beautiful specimen.
