Curator's Comments:
I find the close-up intimacy of this mixed media print both beautiful and terrifying. Vulnerability of the body is communicated through the soft drypoint lines, just as the figural contours direct our eyes to the central aperture. Perhaps because of our current pandemic I see the circular red cell in the human portal as a disease pathogen. More opaque and dense that the comparable ethereal torso, the spidery shape resembles our all too familiar virus. But I also recognize I might not have come to that assumption so quickly a mere month ago. Scale of the print isn’t indicated, but I presume modest dimensions because of the medium. A small scale would certainly enhance the close familiarity of the exposed body. Thank you for sharing this new work.
