Dreamlike ride through Rochester, NY during a heavy rain storm as seen through the passenger side window of a car in which the water streaking across the glass causes the landscape to seemingly melt into another world.

Curator’s Comments:
Drive is a mesmerizing video, minimal in its achromatic value pattern, but maximal in the richness of textural variation and movement. The watery swirls inject hypnotic mysticism into the most banal of scenery (I’m a native of Rochester, NY). While the organic configurations and watery bands were formally repetitive, there was enough variation in the piece to make me appreciate the reoccurring patterns. The punctuation of the misty space by dark, black shapes provides visual interest, but also an ambiguous trepidation. Perhaps because the imagery flows by rather quickly there is the nagging feeling we’ve missed something significant, from the corner of our eye.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
