Curator’s Comments:

Thank you for alerting me to your new metal sculpture posted on the site. Seemingly untitled, or simply numerically designated, this construction strongly aligns with your recognizable signature style while making some significant formal departures.  First off, I enjoy the elongated structure with a circular rather than square base.  The choice to echo both shape and materials throughout the entire piece makes the base a more visually harmonious component of the work.  I read the design to be fresh, uncluttered and light, having radially balanced spokes off of a thin central core.  The singular red square at the apex balances the visual weight of the horizontal projections, and provides enough color variation to hold the viewers’ interest.  With longer viewing I also attribute the arrangement of lines and solid forms to be figural in nature, with the red cube as head atop four armed projections. I was happy to see the piece noted as kinetic, and the aspect of movement is a strong feature in all of your painting and sculptural work.  It’s always a pleasure to view your sculptures, which flex and stretch within well-articulated personal perimeters. Thank you for sharing your practice with us.
