Curator’s Comments:

 

I somehow overlooked the beauty and shimmer of this painting (s)Leaving Seattle that was posted many years ago, despite admiring the arguably related Pedicure in Paradise (2).  The Seattle cityscape has a wonderfully understated color palette, reminiscent of misty skies on evening commutes.  The painting reveals the spender in the ordinary.  Compositionally, I appreciate the elevated horizon line and perspective, raising the viewer up above the traffic.  The atmospheric perspective reveals softened contrast in the background, and some small burst of warm light in the bottom foreground.  It’s nice to see the classically rendered forms in a contemporary space.  I do hope you consider to post new work on the site.
