Curator’s Comments:
Sleeping Passengers on an Unmanned Plane came up randomly on the site, and admittedly the assigned title caught my eye before the image itself. I’m glad I came in for a closer look, for the subtly of the work underscores the feeling of being emotionally and physically untethered. The square format further distances the viewer from a familiar vertical or horizontal orientation with a horizon, or traditional figure-ground relationship. I’m tempted to make out figural connections between the low relief elements, but as soon as I do, the image dissolves back into the muted grey ground. The other low contrast paintings appear to be in a series with similarity sardonic titles. For me, the text injects existential humor in these quiet, transient works.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
