Curator’s Comments:

I enjoyed viewing the new landscapes you posted yesterday.  The expansive vistas wonderfully capture the soft glow of sunset (or sunrise) beyond water.  The vivid red interior of the boat in Morning Light offers an unexpected pleasure, and contrast to the soft cool focus of the misty horizon.  Though looking back through your other images, I most strongly gravitated back to Navajo Light.  The light, again, subtly accentuates the forms, producing radiant warmth throughout the landscape.  The canyon itself is a wondrous space.  Your image heightens the dramatic sense of scale and envelopment within what appear to be colossal standing structures.  The linear contrast within the colored strata of the cliffs also invites the illusion of skeletal ribbing, as the lighter colored bands curve around the two cliffs. The small gaps of light peeking through the stone offer visual breaks from the heavy visual weight of the composition, and encourage the viewers’ entry into the almost surreal environment.  It is a handsome and formidable piece.
