This was painted plein air on a very cold January 2010. Brrr It is the footbridge directly across from the Southwood Golf Clubhouse.

Curator’s Comments:

Southwood Footbridge came back randomly on the site today, even though it was posted over a decade ago.  The hazy purple hues add a glowing warmth to the cold winter scene, while the opening up of the steam’s sloping banks lead the viewer into the landscape.  The reflections in the water further merge pools of color with the tree line and brushy pink embankment. While your notation indicates the environment was directly across from a golf clubhouse, the footbridge remains a subtle human intervention into a natural, unspoiled scene.  The color of the structure remains soft in hue and contrast, keeping the feel of the painting organic and restful.  I do hope you post new work on the site. Your plein air paintings are particularly, and unusually, rich and layered.
