Thanks for capturing a bit of chaos in words. Your vision's of the pieces rings true to me.
Both piece's, Central Station and Control Room, are in Halifax at Gallery Page and Strange.
Curator’s Comment:
The large scale of this painting isn’t easily appreciated viewing it online, but it still gives off a momentous presence. The blue/black and red staccato rhythm is quite pleasing- reverberating with a sort of nervous energy. The choppy brush strokes have a restless tempo, and imply gates, small walls and paths. The intervals of gestural marks build to a crescendo, and then opens up to a darker space below. The irregular ground reads as shadow, or recessed plane. As an interior space it is quieter that the delineated red mass above. Control Room has a similar presence, but in its case the principal grid system gives order to the saturated red slashes of color which spill across the picture plane. While both are incredible works, Central Station’s lack of interior organization arrives at beautiful chaos.
