Curator’s Comments: 

 

Viewing a full page/screen of your Chakra Energy Paintings offers the viewer a unique opportunity to meditate on the slight variations between the series of works that appear more significant upon individual inspection. The works on paper present a full spectrum of rainbow hues, pulsating with repeated expressionistic marks and circles.  I enjoy the way the eye travels down through each piece, following the symbolic bodily chakra points. But of these abstractions, I may be most interested in the piece entitled Spherical, that is further identified as an acrylic scroll painting in the accompanying text. The slightly diminished contrast and chromatic saturation draw me in closer to understand the spherical and spatial relationships. The shapes take on a subtle organic quality with their modeled color and texture, despite the strong bilateral symmetry of the overall geometric design. The top and bottom forms specifically call to mind an orange and breast respectively, rolling through the picture plane and our corporeal connections to spheres, while accentuating the living quality of the accompanying energy inspired works.  I’ve also reflected on the taller physical height of the painting must strength the association with a standing human figure.
