Go West Young Man represents courage, determination and drive. It’s about taking chances and throwing caution to the wind with the hopes of a more fulfilling life. Three galvanized waste cans formed by time and repetition are mounted on a backdrop of floating straw. Floating in each can is a rustic pitchfork which represents hard physical labor that pushes individuals to search for something more. As individuals, we search beyond our self-imposed confinement seeking to smash convention and routine. The interior is illuminated in a rich red patina, a representation of the west coast’s dramatic sunsets.
