Curator’s Comments:
This multi-part piece entitled The Flow appeared randomly on the site, and I was happy to take a closer look. The subtle variations in color against more translucent white glass conjure ethereal surfaces and space. I also enjoy the relationship between the two rounded organic forms and the geometric base/tray with linear blue-green striations. The connections between color and the slightly curled edge of the tray nicely marries organic and geometric sculptural forms. It’s as if the piece plays off of the associations of fruit on a plate, but casts objects into a dreamlike realm. Looking through your other glass works on the site, I remember admiring your exquisite stacked kiln cast Columns. I can see strong aesthetic relations between these pieces, but also appreciate the dexterity of working between the bold and graphic and more ambiguous and flowing configurations. I was surprised to see these pieces were both posted back in 2012. I do hope you are continuing to work your magic in glass.
