My inspiration for this painting is a tribute to our beloved pup, Mia, who took her journey home recently. My painting is of a peaceful, sunny day boating through the islands of palms and mangroves and returning home. Can you feel the serenity? 16x20 palette knife acrylic

Curator’s Comments:
The Journey Home caught my attention this morning, and I thought the short narrative statement you included below directed and enriched my viewing experience. I do appreciate the intended serenity of the piece, and the thin, tenuous roots of the mangrove teetered on the shoreline. It’s as if the trees are floating just above the edge of the water. The paleness of the watery inlet, and virtually disappearing horizon add to the mood of delicate balance in the landscape. The choppy brown brushstrokes in the slender trunks also slow down the viewers eye, and encourages us to linger within the branches. I enjoy the manner in which you use broken color in many of your paintings- foliage breaks into an array of color beyond green. Unexpected Pathway shares this hazy edged focus, and soft manipulation of color. I admire this personalized interpretation of what in less capable hands could be all too familiar ocean views.
