The Marine is an intriguing piece among your other floral pictures, though I do appreciate some other figural abstractions in your portfolio.  While size and medium aren’t specifically noted here, The Marine is quite engaging in its fluid gestural sensibility and compositionally opposed human subjects.  The painting looks to have been created on glass, or a similarly smooth ground.  While we can detect the artist’s hand through some wide brushstrokes, there is a sinuous, almost molten quality to the image. The semi-nude abstracted figure on the right appears to open up in a surreal moment of exposed body and thought.  Tightly positioned within straighter angled lines, the figure also seems to be within an architectural structure or interior space. Painted in fleshly local color, the green accent in/on her head could symbolically depict remembrance of the Marine behind her?  But the smoking soldier, depicted in darker achromatic values could be viewed through this same symbolic lens as sinister or shadier in character. Either way, remembered or real, I like the tension that exists between them.
