There is Always a Hope resonates with viewers today, sadly, as much as it did in 2011. It attracted my attention on the site with it’s cool and somber tones.  Rather than recognizing your signature style of embellished figural abstractions, I see this painting as more reminiscent of Picasso’s Blue Period. The pale bird reads clearly as iconography for hope, but I’m curious about the armless figure.  One perhaps obvious interpretation of the omission of limbs is a representation of powerlessness. The twisting headscarf also takes on a psychologically ambiguous quality in the context of the work’s title, and the times.  The woman’s floating face stands out as separate and mask-like- detached from the space in palette and value contrast. Mystery also pervades the abstracted environment in the background, combining vaguely architectural elements with less defined organic forms. I do encourage you to  post new work on the site. There is an intention, and I think belief, in hope, in all of your paintings. I wonder if you have sustained that ideology in your practice.
