Curator’s Comments:
I don’t recall seeing any of your crayon and hot glue works on the site before, despite the decade old date stamp on the posting. They’re deceptively simple works, often composed of a simple contoured silhouette of a recognizable figure or object, such as On the Farm. It’s a startling piece is its economy of form. The gun is visually inviting in its organic textures, and flesh-like ground. The bright orange trigger punctuates the space, and allows us certainty in our identification of the subject. Extra Rounds is even more playful; candy-colored hues form a quilt like compartmentalization, while the surface texture looks quite rubbery. The spiralized pink trail could be the extra rounds alluded to in the title, but I can’t help the nagging sense they are intestine like in their sinewy pinkness. If you still visit the site, I would love to know how you arrived at these works- both in concept and your unusual technique.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
