Curator’s Comments:
I just stumbled across Trace Routines ( No.2) today on the site, and while it was posted some time ago, I was struck by its freshness and spontaneity. The limited color palette has an organic quality, and the soft under layer of ink nicely supports the thin white lines, presumably worked in reductively to the plate before printing. The white lines have a topographic map or contouring quality. Looking through your other pieces on the site reinforces this contextually obvious relationship and enjoyable link to cartography. The adjacent Trace Routines in this series you have posted have a more dynamic spatial movement, While I enjoy their expressive marks, I’m particular enamored with No. 2, which slows down the pathways and causes me to linger longer over the pink cloud formations.
