I value the uncluttered and open expanses throughout your paintings and drawings, along with the conceptual thread of union and vulnerability.  Not Ready to Say Good-bye is especially poignant, as the “figures” are caught in a wistful but likely uncontrollable separation.  The jumble of collaged paper fragments play against the idea of a word balloon or bubble; there is seemingly too much to say, so that it becomes blurred in the telling.  The air around the drifting balloons is visually heavy with its chalky pale blue texture.  The small red basket and trailing ladder alternately break up the softness of the space, and look particularly exposed in the limitless sky.  The watercolor Aftermath is even more economic in its composition.  Two equal halves, crossing the lacey ghost residuals of the same shapes, are self-referentially intimate.  The organic texture throughout the forms reminds me of a handprint, or afterimage of some sort. I believe the strength in this artwork is that it speaks directly about love and longing without ever descending into sentimentality or nostalgic sweetness.  The abstraction of these images pulls at the core of romantic feeling, and expresses love in a fresh and unencumbered state.
