Curator’s Comments:
I’m attracted to the varying degrees of density and contrast in these allover foliage pieces, with Recovery being my favorite among them. This grouping of six square panels creates an enjoyable rhythm and connection vertically as well as across the horizontal space. The dark green ground sets off the more saturated color in the small flowers, producing an incredibly concentrated design that is more ordered than chaotic. The few longer stems dispersed across the individual panels provide a needed relief from the small shapes of the foliage, slowing down the visual tempo and cadence. I was a bit surprised to read they weren’t photographically altered or digital images- they appear to have high resolution and detail against a shallow depth of field. Splish-Splash is another appealing composition, as the small open area of water provides textural variation and visual rest. The clustering of like colored leaves within the value pattern also creatively organizes the space. Despite the intense infiltration of the picture plane, these pieces counterbalance to provide a meditative calm.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
