Comment
Thank you for your most generous comment about this piece. Aside from the color and the image, the painting extends around the edges of the canvas thus making it "almost" 3-dimensional. I have been experimenting with color for many years and my recent work reflects a new burst of energy. I plan to post more SOON!!! Thanks again for looking . . .
Curator’s Comment:
I’m happy to see you recently joined the site. These appear to be intense (little?) bursts of essential painting. Small jewels of luscious color, they present undiluted form. (I assume the dimensions indicated denote inches rather than feet?) I find the image of smaller, condensed space appealing, as it would seem the scale contrasts and restrains the rugged gesture. I especially like this piece because of the larger fields of primary red, yellow and blue. The deep red section in the bottom supports and uplifts the pure cadmium yellow and slightly lower chroma blue on top, and then small bits of red move throughout the piece to codify the color relationships. The proportions of shape and color are also appealing, creating a simple hierarchy of value. I hope to see more of your work in the days ahead.
