Thank you for looking at my work. I always like to hear how others perceive my paintings, and your analysis is quite spot on! I do like ambiguity in my work, as it leads to open interpretation. Thank you again!

Curator's Comments:

I was thrilled to discover your unique works on the site today.  While I see vestiges of a Modernist sensibility in the compartmentalized forms, your deliberately constructed paintings defy simple categorization.  The Watery World suggests an urban landscape with dotted roadways and sign-like structures.  The title pf the painting implies the blue sections represent watery tributaries between the built-up sections.  But the abstraction of the subject within the horizontal picture plane makes further landscape associations slippery. Painterly expression prevails when recognition dissolves.  Your choice of vinyl emulsion may contribute to the ambiguity of form. Plasticity of the elements offers both atmospheric and flat space.  I also respond to the freshness of works such Untitled 15. The large proportion of white space communicates openness, despite the restrictive nature of the jagged circular enclosure of the organic shapes.  Reading into your general artist statement accompanying these images as well as the series title, I feel as though the oval shapes with crosses inside could represent individuals within a community.  A bubble cloud looms overhead. But whatever content may be communicated in these pensive works, they offer the viewer entry into a highly personalized narrative.  I do hope to see more of your work on the site in the future.
