Curator’s Comments:
Void of a Vision remains a popular work on the site, despite it being posted back in 2012. I enjoy the pale, not quite achromatic color scheme, which to some degree counters the grimace of the Cubistically constructed face. This restraint in palette is unusual among your other colorful paintings, and commands a different way of viewing the abstracted subject. The viewer is invited to compose a gestalt of sweeping brushstrokes emanating from the centralized portrait, which inject a visual energy into the intensity of the stare. The marks also suggest a body in the bottom part of the composition. While many of your other pieces enjoys abstraction figuration, Void of a Vision is perhaps singularly represented as a work that focuses on one entity. I do hope you consider posting new works to the site. I would love to see how your dynamic painting practice has evolved.
