Curator’s Comments:
Waterweave has a wonderfully hypnotic pattern, which I can only imagine is enhanced by the slick lacquer finish. The shift in direction between the compartmentalized sections keeps the movement swift, but contained within the larger picture field. I also appreciate the gradations in cool hues, between the violet bottoms of the squares moving up through lighter blue-greens. It’s interesting that the closely analogous hues prevent the otherwise graphic lines from forming too much contrast; the effect is more nuanced. As the dimensions aren’t indicated here, I’m wondering if we’re viewing a section of a larger grid. The large scale of some of your other works form interesting and enveloping environments.
