An illustration from the first book in my series (the mutatione interius mundi), titled The Agris Terra. This is an image of a hidden area within a golden field called the Memory Terra.
The memory terra is completely black and white, symbolizing the absence of certain elements of a moment when remembered. You may notice pieces of the "relic" dissolving into black, symbolizing the memory slowly fading but still existing.
This is an ivory relic frozen in time of an elder levian wraith consumed by an antagonist force called a piece of the source. Since this is a harmless "statue" in the memory terra it won't harm Andrew or Lily, but they eventually face something like it in the agris terra.
Pieces of the source are a mixture of shaddow and decay, and without a host die in the morning and arise at night (symbolizing an emotion of agitation that came with my mental illness). The tough veins of shaddow make it hard to damage and as decay approaches it, it attaches and makes the piece of the source grow. The only thing that can stop pieces of the source is something called shaddow's muse, which I won't spoil for you
