Curator’s Comment:
Looking at the larger body of your work, multiple themes and sentiments arise. I’m particularly attracted to this image titled (WIP?) Ascent for its more enigmatic personal and spatial narrative. The two figures seem to some degree unaware of each other, in terms of their proximity and gestured expressions. The various and contrasting hues of each wall and the ceiling of the interior further compartmentalizes and sections off their individual domains. I read the ballerina figure as archetypal in a Hopperesque tradition- interesting she appears in the more wistful and fantastic Park Street Dream. In the later work the juxtaposition of the dancer with the train is melancholy and reflective, but slightly humorous in the irrationality of the scene. The darker color palette supports a nocturnal mirage, but intimates a faint foreboding as well. The soft handling of the oil medium works well in both paintings, as the viewer is pulled into bewitching premonitions.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
