Curator’s Comments: 

 

Tutto attorno a me (All around me?) does in fact have an all consuming power in its puzzle like design components.  The geometric fracturing of space provides angular movement, but there’s also an elastic or malleable organic quality to the enveloping ultramarine color palette.  The lines suggest a surreal landscape on a wavering geometric grid with highly abstracted figures.  The secondary bands of slightly warmer violet and muted orange hues offer some release from the dominant allover pattern.  I am equally enamored with the painting entitled Follow Me.  Its more textured ground with abstracted forms reminds me of Paul Klee.  The larger multi-colored and contrasting breaks from the cool ground additionally provide formal shape digressions from the cool background, and animate the space.  I enjoy the graduated transitions of color within several of the compartmentalized segments suggesting varying degrees of opacity in the medium, as if we’re viewing veils of semi-transparent glaze.
