Getting really frustrated with the cat in this painting so have started working on other areas of the painting. It goes like that sometimes, just need to focus elsewhere then go back to the bits that aren't working.
Really wanting animals to look realistic, not Disney like but with expression and body language that anyone can understand.
The mouse has been busted while his friend (not painted in yet) is oblivious, still enjoying tea and cupcakes.
Also putting in lots of textural detail, the carving on the footstool for example. Working up a rich surface that has lots of significance. The Queens slippers are special to me and the first person to tell me why, I will send them a print when done! You will need to know your royal facts.
Have a coffee break this afternoon with the fabulous photographer,
Doc Ross; from my home town of Queenstown. I'm always on the hunt for someone to chat by the afternoon, painting is engrossing but also a bit lonely. Don't feel sorry for me though, I love it and all the inspiring comments from viewers; I am not alone.
Have a great, calm day all! x Ira
