learning to enjoy NOT working

oh boy. this is a hard one. now that i have weekends free (restricted to only painting 5 days a week - very sensibly - by Dallas) i need a hobby! although i have moved collage making and computer "stuff" to the weekend. still. lots of free time. so. strange. ;)

knowing that i SHOULD (parental message) have a varied life, thinking of learning bridge from Dallas (he would be thrilled), reading SF more than just on trips, and sitting in a church pew more than once a quarter.

my mother taught me to work/keep busy. good and bad. makes for a very productive life, but my only contemplation time is in front of the canvas - and i'm usually just thinking about paint/space/color/line... all work and no play...

hard to disconnect from what you love - i guess i have to just fill in by letting "vision" alter whatever is around!
