I have been painting for many years; I have gone through lots of phases, starting with oils, going through watercolor, mixed media, collage, acrylic and oil pastel.  Although never painting with great detail, I always like to be able to see some object in the work; and I painted in what I considered an impressionistic style.  During these years, I was able to win awards in local and regional juried shows and was accepted into a few national shows. I also have had success with selling and have paintings in many private and public places.

I have studied with some internationally known artists and have taken art  at local colleges and museums.

For the past few years I have felt a real pull into more abstract and non-objective work; and since I have been exploring this, I have found that I really was always painting this way but didn't know it.  The process is what I love; I love to learn new things and try new materials. I love working with covering-up, scratching-through, drawing into the paint, and whatever else I feel like doing.  Also, I am interested in expressing the feeling of something rather than a thing.  I have now found the freedom to explore these new processes and am loving it.  I am committed to continuing the explorations!
