Curator’s Comments:
Appearing randomly on the site today, I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to view the surreal oil painting ironically titled No Comment. The composition strikes me as a more focused and cleaner version of your other dreamscapes. Compositional and conceptual emphasis on the large central spiral wave anchors the space, while the dark background (sky) provides visual rest. There’s a satisfying visual symmetry in the repetition of the sphere and central aperture of the spiral, as well as the small figure in the bottom right retracing the design in the sand. I find it curious that the prominent Atlas-like figure hoisting the ball is nude in an archetypal position, while his human counterpart(s) are in less mythic beachwear. The tiny runner moving into the focal center further accentuates the push-pull of the space, but the timelessness is interrupted by their small but decidedly contemporary features. The piece resonates with the illusion to humankind’s resistance to changing tides, all the while the viewer is are seduced by the smooth perfection of the piece.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
