Curator's Comments:
Lapis Lazuli Freeform came up on the site today, and I enjoyed the organic, non-objective composition. The saturated cobalt hues provide a lush color palette, while the lighter sections offer some visual rest from the active configurations. The tinted yellow ochres shapes further provide contrast and visual interest. I appreciate your description of the media and process accompanying the work, as it offers some insight into the semi-transparency of the plexi surface. The related piece by the same title, but designated 2, appears to be a slightly larger version of the painting. While the physical dimensions vary only slightly, the forms within appear magnified. I’m more aware of the individual drips and variations within particular hues. As these were posted a few years ago, I encourage you to post new pieces to the site. I would like to see how your practice and abstraction has evolved.
