City Spill Expanding came on view on the site today, and I agree with the caption that the image does not need explanation. What is noteworthy for me, however, is the surprising ephemeral allure of the piece. The arching gray fog sweeping across the landscape conjures smoke and pollution, while communicating transient mist through visual movement. The nestling of the buildings between warmer hued brown and green hills implies a geographic containment, just as the small skulls roll past this natural boundary. The dense piling of the tightly drawn skulls is built as a swarm, and as such creates a sense that they are an animated mass expanding of their own volition. I find it interesting to contemplate this darkly articulated area in contrast to the smoothness in the broader scene. Looking through your other drawings on the site, I appreciate the stream of consciousness, and thematic interest in bodies in peril.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
