Curator’s Comments:
Om-Beach Bull came up randomly on the site this morning, and I must agree with the comment made by Martin Garcia many years ago- the piece is dynamic, and conveys a very different mood that most of your other figurative paintings, and hypnotic digital designs. The heightened color palette and gritty textural application of the media (crayon or pastel?) gives a slightly agitated movement to the light, and animal subject. The proportionally small legs accentuate its mass, and push the head into the viewer’s space. But the bull’s countenance is weary rather than confrontational, and his massive horns almost dissolve into the background. Your other works with bovine animals demonstrates equally skillful and sensitive handing of form and anatomy, but this piece in particular shows the sentient presence of the beast. Looking through your other figurative works, I remember admiring the female (human) figures some time ago. As with the bulls, some highlight elegant form, while others delve into soulful expression.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
