Curator’s Comments:

Softening the edges of forms within this digital piece highlights the organic delicacy of the fuchsia plant, which provides contrast to the overall intensity. I like the green foliage included in the top of the composition, with small bits reappearing sporadically throughout the color field.  The green provides striking complementary contrast to the red flowers, while the square format serves as visual punctuation. Trees of a Different Color pushes the complementary color and expressive abstraction further; the cyan-blue tree trunks appear to lift and suspend the pictorial weight of the tree tops in a figurative manner.  Looking back through your other pieces on the site, I remember commenting on your skillful silk paintings. Recognizing the formal dexterity you have in these seemingly divergent mediums, I do hope you continue to post new work on the site.
